Start-up Leadership

Third person to join them. At 24, I led a new business unit to set-up its operations: formulated the 3-years strategic plan, built a team of 10, designed and implemented incentive schemes, stream-lined processes, acquired 17 new customers (F500 and CMMi L5, Start-ups), managed 3 vendors, generated sales and achieved exponential growth in 5.5 months; played a pivotal role in expanding it towards ITeS sector. Turn-around Management

Joined them at a time when the company was distressed with sluggish growth and customer non-payment issues. I had redefined the growth strategy and operations, identified new market, initiated Reseller Agreement, increased headcount by 20%, diversified our offerings, acquired 16 new customers (F500, CMMi L5) and led the transformation to achieve exponential growth in 8 months. Reports to CEO/MD.

Oracle

After these 2 leadership assignments, I served Oracle for 6 years in various sales and business development capacities and helped them grow their database and middleware businesses by large year-on-year for 4 consecutive years, winning 10 awards and recognition across Asia Pacific and North America Sales.

During my tenure with Oracle, I had led 31 Tier1 and Tier2 Partners in East India (13 states), helped 11,000+ emerging businesses, 80+ colleges and universities (USA) and 137+ large customers (USA), managed 26 Ministries and built 7 e-Governance projects, including Union Public Service Commission and e-Courts Mission Mode Project, Supreme Court of India.

Garg Partners

Starting out with no external support, no team and no funding, I founded, built and grew Garg Partners to diverse clients across 13 industry verticals. In the last 3 years, Garg Partners helped (pre-revenue) start-ups, high-growth and distressed businesses develop 5-year strategic plan, improve organizational performance (operational efficiency, sales, inventory, EBITDA/EBIT, cash flow and profitability), develop marketing and branding strategy (including celebrity brand endorsement), initiate strategic partnerships, restructure organization, restructure debt and originate strategic M&A transactions. We had built investor-facing pitch-deck and 5-year financial model for 43 products and 19 countries with manufacturing plant and R&D facility for raising equity capital, constructed accretion/dilution analysis for buy-side M&A (51% stake acquisition with cash and stock), calculated market size for 75 products, designed CEO compensation, prepared numerous pitch-decks and financial models for sell-side M&A and performed valuations, besides various corporate advisory projects.

In FY18-19, Garg Partners clocked a growth of 313% by revenue and 100% by new Client acquisition over FY17-18. Reference Client base grew by 60% over the last year and contributed 39% to FY19 revenue. Under my leadership, Garg Partners grew 30 times by revenue between FY17 and FY22.

Board of Directors

(1) Farm2Kitchen Foods Pvt. Ltd. (organic food and lifestyle store):  I served them as a Board Member (Non-Executive) in their Board of Directors and helped them with customer acquisition strategy, marketing and branding strategy (including brand endorsement), operations strategy, strategic business partnership, corporate finance, documentation of agreements and decision-making.

(2) AJ Apparel Pvt. Ltd. (affordable luxury fashion and lifestyle store): I served them as a Board Member in their Advisory Board of Directors and help them with growth strategy, corporate finance and decision-making

Outside Entrepreneurship

I define myself as a discipline player who enjoys music (old Hindi songs, MLTR and Bryan Adams are my favorites) and reading (about investment and business economics) during my leisure time. I’ve recently developed a hobby for nature photography, and spend my time capturing nature’s moments with my new Canon EOS 700D 135mm lens DSLR!

I enjoy gardening and interior designing (converted my concrete balcony to a 30 feet x 6 feet garden with grass, wall-creepers, plants, tree logs, water-fountain, Buddha statue, lantern and bonfire), enjoy traveling to hill stations, enjoy long drives, love North Indian and Chinese cuisines and have a passion for luxury cars – BMW 330i, Bentley Mulsanne, Rolls-Royce Phantom, Mercedes S-Class and Ferrari Portofino – and Sports cars – Porsche 911 and Ferrari 812 Superfast – are my first love. I was also a Badminton player who had received 2 advanced coaching under Dibrugarh District Sports Association (DDSA) and played at District level. I love to cook nutritious and healthy food for my Mom

I write articles for a non-profit organization, highlighting their social activities such as “Swach Bharat”, “Fruits Distribution” and “Swine Flu Vaccine Distribution”. I’ve a dream of working with a non-profit organization that dedicates its service to child education and welfare.

I’m a Computer Science Graduate with 80.02% from Bangalore University, India. I’ve certifications with Distinction in Finance, Law, Marketing, Operations and Management from The Wharton School, Harvard Law School, London Business School and Yale University.

The objective of my blog is to help beginners learn corporate finance and strategy. The reader will find literature on corporate finance, strategy and industry intelligence along with sections on Private Equity, Mergers & Acquisitions and Distressed Investing. The “Analyst Station”, “Business Strategy”, “Industry Intelligence” and “Good Reads” are few attractions of my site.

I launched this blog on April 09, 2015, by designing, developing and managing the content independently. Today, it commands 9400+ visitors, 17000+ reads and 790+ comments from 100+ countries (FY17 top 5 countries are USA, India, Canada, UK and France).
